Colombia’s top police official on Sunday became the godfather of a three-month-old baby girl who was rescued three days after being kidnapped in Bogota.

General Jose Roberto Leon asked to be the godfather of Alisson Brigitte Franco after returning the baby girl to her parents who had spent three days in despair while authorities were looking for their stolen baby.

“I hope the family of Allison Brigitte gives me teh opportunity to be the godfather of the child … it’s a girl that deserved to be happy,” said the general.

According to the Police, the baby’s kidnapper had stolen the baby because she was too afraid to tell her husband she had had a miscarriage. Instead, she decided to steal a baby and pretend it was hers.
