Colombia’s Senate website hacked

by Adriaan Alsema May 20, 2011

Colombia news - hack

Colombian hacker collective “Anonymous” hacked the website of the country’s Senate Friday, replacing the page with an alternative website protesting a new law regarding internet copyright.

On the hacker collective’s website, the group said it “decided to perform a defacement action against the website of the Senate of the Republic of Colombia in protest of the government’s stubbornness to not undo the “Lleras Law‘.”

“Anonymous” was formed to protest the “Lleras Law” and previously carried out DDoS attacks on the websites of the Interior and Justice Ministry, led by German Vargas Lleras, and of the website of President Juan Manuel Santos, which both times led to the websites to crash.
