by Adriaan Alsema April 17, 2011

Colombia news - Guara

Colombia’s National Police said Saturday it has arrested one of the country’s ten most wanted criminals.

Hector Efren Meneses Yela, alias “Guara” or “Rodrigo” is suspected of being one of the most senior members of drug gang “Los Rastrojos” and the organization’s contact person with Colombian guerrilla group FARC and “Chapo” Guzman, leader of the Mexican Sinaloa cartel.

Meneses Yela was arrested in the country’s third largest city, Cali.

According to the authorities, the criminal had been involved in the drug trafficking business for over two decades and was a part of the infamous Norte del Valle cartel until its rupture.
