Colombian passion kills 1, injures another

by Adriaan Alsema September 5, 2011

broken heart

Two Colombian men fell victim to love on Monday: One was killed for flirting with the wrong woman, another had his ear bitten off by his ex-lover.

According to newspaper El Espectador, a 50-year old man from Barranquilla was shot after giving a compliment to a woman with an apparently violently jealous boyfriend.

The offended lover reportedly waited until the victim had gone to the bathroom in order to follow him in and shoot him.

The same newspaper reported that a man from the Huila department was admitted to hospital after having his ear bitten off by an ex-lover.

The ear was recovered, but despite the best efforts of local doctors it was not possible to repair the damage that had been caused.

The man, from Huila, is in a stable condition but will need to remain in the hospital for the next three days for observation.
