Military finds weapons cache in western Colombia

by Samuel Moldovan October 9, 2014

The Colombian military and prosecutor’s office carried out a joint operation in western Colombia where they located a weapons cachet of the criminal gang “The Rastrojos.”

Two M16 rifles, an AK 47 rifle, a grenade launcher, one PKM machine gun, and a pistol Five Seven, known as cop killers, were all found in a rural part of Darien, Valle del Cauca, hidden between palm and bamboo trees.

According to the Army, the weapons belonged to the criminal gang “The Rastrojos,” who apparently were preparing to attack the civilian population.

The commander of the army’s Third Brigade, Colonel Jorge Ivan Monsalve, said that gang operations have intensified in the area.
