Colombia’s tourism and promotion agency has made a deal with 30 bloggers to help boost the country’s image as a travel destination.

After a few postponed launch dates, Proexport — the agency in charge of the country brand’s promotion — and the Colomban Vice-Ministry of Tourism silently held the “great launch” of its embedded blogger offensive on Thursday.

In exchange for their commitment to write about Colombia at least twice a month, the bloggers were promised 40 all-inclusive trips across the South American country in the coming year, exposure on the official government tourism portal and a government-approved “Colombia Travel Official Blogger” seal.

Among the government bloggers are English-language blogs like Mike’s Bogota Blog and Medellin Living. Spanish, German, Portuguese and French-language blogs are also taking part in the program.

The promotion campaign is expected to last a year.
