Colombia’s Navy and Police said Sunday they had confiscated 2,733 kilos of cocaine in four separate operations throughout the country.
Seven people who were found with 1,609 kilos of the illicit drug were arrested in the operation.
In the southwestern port city of Tumaco, Nariño, the Navy seized 631 kilos of cocaine and arrested three suspected drug traffickers, one of whom an Ecuadorean national.
In Buenaventura, Colombia’s largest port city, Navy officers found 390 kilos of cocaine and a weapons cache. No arrests were reported in this operation.
In this operation, 103 kilos of cocaine were found on a sailboat. The officers arrested two suspects.
According to the country’s Defense Ministry, 310 tons of cocaine has been confiscated between January and September this year, a 40% increase compared to the same period last year.
