Clinton to visit Colombia in 2012: Ministry

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has agreed to visit Colombia next year, the country’s Foreign Ministry said Monday.

Foreign Minister Maria Angela Holguin briefly met Clinton in New York City to discuss “issues on the bilateral agenda focused on trade and security” after which Colombia’s Foreign Ministry announced the visit.

According to Colombian radio station Caracol, the trip to Colombia will take place in January.

According to the Colombian Foreign Ministry website, Clinton had “expressed her optimism” about the ratifying of a free trade agreement between the two country’s that’s been stalled since its signing in 2006.
