Monsignor Juan Vicente Cordoba, secretary of the Colombian Episcopal Conference told Caracol Radio that because the dialogue between the rebels and mediators are going smoothly there is no reason for the church to interfere.
“Fortunately we don’t have to (mediate), because President (Juan Manuel) Santos has accepted the mediation of doctor (Piedad) Cordoba. Without problem he gave the green light. There is no conflict. The relations and communication go smoothly,” said Cordoba.
The release of the three members of the military and two local politicians are expected to take place in January.
