Colombia’s third largest city Cali confirmed its reputation as the world’s capital of salsa as hundreds of the world’s best salsa dancer took part in the 2012 World Salsa Festival that ended Sunday.

“More than 300 dancers and groups from Latin America, the United States and France took part. This shows that salsa is an active musical phenomenon and Cali is the world capital of salsa,” producer Luis Alberto Sevillano told French press agency AFP.

The massive participation of groups from around the world proves Cali’s unchallenged and unofficial title as salsa capital, the producer added.

The 10-day festival drew thousands of visitors.
