by Adriaan Alsema July 8, 2012

An attack on a police patrol in the the north of Colombia has left four policemen dead, two missing and one injured, local authorities say.

According to authorities of the Antioquia department where the attack took place, the policemen were assaulted in the municipality of Segovia, a hotbed of FARC guerrillas and other illegal armed groups.

“We still do not have certainty about the group that killed the policemen because in this area there is interference of the FARC, the ELN, the “Rastrojos” and the “Urabeños,” Antioquia Government Secretary Santiago Londoño told reporters.

According to the official, police and army have sent reinforcements to the region to investigate the killings and find the missing policemen.
