Army finds ‘Ecuadorean’ minor in FARC camp

by Adriaan Alsema January 13, 2011

Colombia news - FARC camp

Colombian soldiers raiding a deserted FARC camp in the south of Colombia found a minor who claims to be Ecuadorean.

The boy was found by troops of the 4th Division in a camp near the town of Calamar, Guaviare, nearly 300 miles from the Ecuadorean border.

According to the army, the camp had been abandoned by members of the FARC’s 6th Front just before the arrival of the armed forces.

The boy, who wouldn’t tell the soldiers how he ended up in the FARC camp, was put in custody of the Colombian Family Welfare Institute.
