‘Anonymous’ claims shutting down Colombia’s police website

by Adriaan Alsema October 14, 2012

Colombia news - police

Hacker collective “Anonymous” on Saturday claimed responsibility for the shutting down of the website of Colombia’s National Police.

The activist hackers carried out the attack in response to “abuse of authority” of riot police that in the cities of Bogota, Medellin and Neiva clashed with protesters taking part in a national “indignant” march on Friday. The violence in Bogota left 26 protesters injured and damage to some 50 buildings.

As a result of the hackers’ attack, the police website was offline for at least 18 hours.
