Colombia’s most famous pop star Shakira gave birth to her first child Tuesday.
The newly-born son of the 35-year-old singer and her boyfriend, Spanish soccer player Gerard Pique, has been named Milan, the singer announced on her website.
“The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification,” the statement said.
The boy was born at 9:36PM in a Barcelona hospital that said the couple’s first child weighed approximately 6lbs. 6 ounces, and that both mother and child were in excellent health.
Before going to the hospital, Shakira asked her followers on Twitter for support.
I’d like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life. Shak
