Colombia’s president Juan Manuel Santos said Sunday he would allow Brazilian helicopters to take part in a release operation of six FARC hostages, breaking the deadlock generated when the government initially insisted it would use its own.
Newscast Noticias Uno also reported that the FARC would release not just the six hostages previously announced, but a total of 10. The newscast based its statement on sources “close to the process.”
The process leading up to the release may take up to three months, said Noticias Uno.
The FARC announced it would release six hostages in December and released their names in subsequent weeks.
