Two jazz bands from American universities arrived in Medellin to perform a series of concerts at the city’s Metropolitan Theater.
The University Jazz Festival, organized by the local language / culture institute Colombo Americano and supported by the U.S. embassy, will feature combos from New York City and Amherst, MA that will play a repertoire of New Orleans-style jazz.
The Juilliard Jazz Ensemble (New York) and the Umass Jazz Quintet of Amherst will perform from Thursday until Saturday.
The members of the jazz combos will be giving masterclasses to Medellin music students as part of a cultural exchange.
