International economic cooperation organization OECD slammed Colombia, an aspiring member, for its failing education system.
In a report on eduation, the organization said that 73.8% of Colombian high school graduates perform badly in math, 51.4% fails in adequate reading and writing skills and 56.2% was inadequately educated in science.
Overall, 43% of Colombian students failed to learn the adequate skills compared to post-high school youth in other countries.
The apparent education deficit is significantly worse among lower-class students where 88% under-performed in international comparative studies.
Colombia has tried to become a member of the OECD for years, but continues to fail to succeed in meeting key conditions that would allow the country to enter the economic cooperation organization.
