Victims of illegal wiretapping by Colombia’s state intelligence agency DAS on Monday sued former President Alvaro Uribe for crimes against humanity, as they say he is responsible for the scandal.
According to former Senator Piedad Cordoba, one of the wiretap victims, she and 42 others claim Uribe is guilty of psychological torture and political persecution.
“We were the victim of spying and psychological torture and all evidence points at Alvaro Uribe as responsible,” Carlos Lozano of communist magazine “Voz” was quoted on Cordoba’s website.
Among the plaintiffs are former Senator Gustavo Petro, House Representative Ivan Cepeda, former Supreme Court magistrate Jaime Araujo, journalist Hollman Morris and various human rights organizations.
