Colombian customs has seized more than $6 Million worth of smuggled goods in the western port city of Buenaventura, National Police reported in a press release Monday.

According to police, the material consisted of 45,000 mobile phones, 135,000 pieces of clothes and 76,000 toys produced in Asia and destined for various major cities in Colombia– Barranquilla, Bogota, Medellin and Valledupar.

Authorities said the mobile phones were intended for the black market in Cartagena, where some 17 criminal organizations actively distribute smuggled and stolen phones.

Apparently, the toys were to be distributed in various cities, including the capital, Bogota.

The clothes, supposedly part of the same shipment as the other goods, had already arrived to Medellin’s inner city when local police seized them Monday. The clothes were to be sold in conjunction with Medellin’s Colombiamoda exhibition, which is due to open next Tuesday.
