460 Colombian soldiers and policemen were killed and over 2,000 injured in combat with illegal armed groups so far this year, President Juan Manuel Santos revealed Monday.

The President took part in an event at the Presidential Palace to honor the soldiers and policemen who were injured in battle.

“This year 460 members of our Armed Forces sacrificed their lives, were killed, murdered, and 2,000 were injured,” Santos said.

The President thanked the present soldiers and policemen for their sacrifice.

“What good example you soldiers and you policemen are giving the country. An example of sacrifice, an example of love for the country, and I thank you like the Colombian people thank you, with all my heart,” said Santos.
