For the second time in two weeks, a massacre took place in the northwestern Colombian department of Antioquia Saturday.
According to preliminary reports by local authorities, five men were assassinated in San Roque, a municipality in the east of the department, some 40 miles from the capital Medellin.
General Jose David Guzman told press that the victims killed early Saturday morning in what police assumes to be a retaliation or combat between drug traffickers.
The massacre took place less than two weeks and less than 20 miles from the October 7 massacre of 10 in the Santa Rosa de Osos municipality.
Colombian media reported earlier in the year that violence has surged in the north and northeast of the Antioquia department due to alleged fighting between neo-paramilitary group “Los Urabeños” and drug trafficking organization “Los Rastrojos.”
