17 soldiers injured in south Colombia traffic accident

Seventeen Colombian soldiers were injured in a traffic accident in the south of the country Sunday, according to local authorities.

Four of the soldiers were taken to hospital in critical condition after their truck crashed near La Plata, a municipality in the southern Huila department.

A medic from the University Hospital of the departmental capital Huila told newspaper El Tiempo that seven of the injured were expected to be allowed to leave the hospital later Sunday.

An army spokesman told a local radio station that they were working together with local authorities to establish the cause of the accident.
