“Tens of thousands of U.S. citizens safely visit Colombia each year,” according to the State Department’s travel warning updated on Thursday.
The travel warning says these U.S. citizens enjoy “tourism, business, university studies, and volunteer work” in Colombia, without incident.
The rest of the travel warning has not changed since October, 2012. Both warnings include this crucial information: “security in Colombia has improved significantly in recent years… but violence linked to narco-trafficking continues to affect some rural areas and parts of large cities.“
