An image of the Virgin of Guadalupe has appeared in a black and white photograph in Cartagena, the tourist capital of Colombia, RCN reported Wednesday.
Jorge Martinez, the owner of the photograph, said that the image of the Virgin appeared suddenly in the portrait of his father and late sister, Regina.
Martinez said that it was not surprising to him that the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe appeared in the photo, because his sister became a devotee of the Virgin after one of her sons visited Mexico, the place where the Virgin of Guadalupe first appeared to a peasant in the 16th century.
“I do not want anyone to become a fanatic, nor to cause a fuss,” said Martinez.
Nonetheless, the image already has a following. As of Wednesday morning, devoted worshipers were trying to find the house in order to worship the Virgin.
Martinez is certain of the apparition and has sought a corroborating witness. He told RCN that, “It is the Virgin of Guadalupe, you can back me up.”
Colombian media have not reported alleged virgin appearances since November last year when the mother of god appeared on the wall of a home in the Huila department. Previously, the virgin Mary was seen in pigeon feces, on burnt arepas, in buckets and on palm trees.
