Uribe travels to US for birth of grandchild

by Brandon Barrett June 20, 2012

Former President Alvaro Uribe travelled to San Francisco Tuesday for the birth of his grandchild, according to W Radio.

Colombia’s head-of-state between 2002 and 2010 is expecting a grandchild from his son Tomas, who has been married to former beauty queen Isabel Sofia Cabrales for five years. The couple moved to the U.S. in 2009.

Designer Hernan Zajar, who is close to Sofia, said he plans to issue a clothing line for infants in the couple’s honor.

The expectant parents have remained guarded about the gender of their child. Ex-President Uribe revealed that he does not care if his grandchild is a girl or a boy, while his wife, Lina Maria Moreno Mejia, said she would prefer a granddaughter.
