New Colombian horror film to premiere in October

by Tom Heyden June 21, 2011

A new Colombian horror film entitled “El Paramo” will be premiered in October 2011, El Espectador reported Wednesday.

The debut film from Colombian director Jaime Osorio Marquez, currently being marketed as “The Squad” in English, features a highly-trained team of nine commandos who are sent to a military base with which contact was lost several days before.

The military base, set on a desolate moor, is believed to have been the target of a guerrilla attack, although the commandos encounter one mysterious survivor who suggests they now face an enemy they were not trained to fight against. A combination of isolation, inability to contact the outside world and the apparent inability to escape, gradually erodes the sanity of the soldiers as the line between friend and enemy becomes increasingly blurred.

Described as a mix between successful recent horror flicks Paranormal Activity and Buried, the film is beginning to create quite a buzz amongst the online horror-fan community.
