Fighter jets, tons of empanandas: What you can buy for Colombia’s James Rodriguez’s $114M price tag

After Spanish soccer giants Real Madrid confirmed they will pay $114 million to acquire Colombia play-maker James Rodriguez, Colombia Reports has prepared a list of distinctly Colombian things you could do with the same amount of money,

Every Colombian could receive $2.39 ($4,295 Colombian Pesos)

Real Madrid could exchange James Rodriguez for 58,461,538 pounds, or 29,320 tons of coffee, at the current world price of coffee beans on the day he was traded.

Every Colombian could ride in a Bogota taxi for the minimum fare and then some ($3,600 Colombian Pesos). Due to the higher price, if everyone caught a Medellin taxi, they would be short 100 pesos ($.05).

Every Colombian could be treated to three empanadas, a common Colombian snack, at their street price in Medellin ($1,200 Colombian Pesos).
