The world of tattoos heads to Bogota

by Kathryn Thompson May 3, 2011

Colombia news - tattoo

The world of tattoos is coming to Bogota over the next month with two popular tattoo events taking place in the Colombian capital.

“Bogota Tattoo Viernes 13” is a locally organized event taking place on the superstitious date of Friday, May 13. It will showcase talented local tattoo artists who will be designing tattoos for under $100, as well as motorbike displays, clothing and accessories stalls.

The fifth edition of the festival will be held at the Academia Charlot located at 70th Street No 9-51 in Bogota.

The second event is the 5th International Convention of Tattoo Artists, taking place on June 4-6 in the capital. The event celebrates alternate lifestyles in Colombia and around the world and has been evolving culturally and economically every year.

After the success of the past four conventions, this year organizers have introduced a new theme focused on pre-Hispanic cultures to demonstrate that body art existed in ancient cultures.

There will be dance performances, body art demonstrations, a museum and seminars about pre-hispanic art and culture.

The event will be held at the CONFERIAS pavillion 8 located at Carrera 40- 22c 67.
