Brazilian airline TAM announces that flights on its new route between Bogota and Sao Paulo will start December 19, Dinero reports.
During the ABAV Fair of the Americas, an international tourism trade fair held in Sao Paulo in June, TAM announced plans for a new direct route between Brazil and Colombia.
TAM’s vice president of marketing and planning Paulo Castello Branco said that “Bogota is the largest South American market where TAM does not operate and has a strategic importance for the airline.”
“Bogota is a city with an economy based on industry, trade, financial and business services, besides having a wide range of culture and tourism,” Castello Branco added.
Colombia received 36,147 Brazilian tourists between January and July 2010, an increase of 39.7% over the same period in 2009.
