Police capture another man allegedly involved in the January 11 murder of two Bogota students in the north Colombian department of Cordoba, Caracol Radio reported Friday.
William Jose Guerrera Castillo is suspected of driving the two young biology students to the place where they were killed by members of the drug gang “Los Urabeños,” according to police and the Prosecutor General.
Castillo was transferred to Monteria, where he will stand trial.
He is the fourth suspect arrested in connection with the case.
The murder of Margarita Gomez and Mateo Matamala, two students from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, brought international attention to the rise in violence in the Cordoba department.
The violence was attributed to rival neo-paramilitary and drug gangs such as Los Urabeños, “Los Paisas” and “Los Rastrojos” vying for power in the region.
The ringleader of Los Urabeños, Roberto Vargas Gutierrez, alias “Gavilan,” is suspected of the murder of the two biology students.
