Sofia Vergara settles ‘Modern Family’ contract dispute out of court

Colombian sweetheart Sofia Vergara and her fellow cast members from the ABC sitcom “Modern Family” will receive major salary raises in exchange for dropping their lawsuit against 20th Century Fox Television.

Vergara and her co-stars Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Eric Stonestreet, Julie Bowen and Ty Burrel sued Fox to void their contracts during negotiations for increased payment last week.

The Modern Family stars have now settled out of court, agreeing to a pay raise between $170,000 and $175,000 per episode for the upcoming fourth season, less than the $200,000 requested per episode, reported the Hollywood Reporter. However, all cast members will now receive a small cut of the show’s back-end profits.

Modern Family airs on ABC in the U.S. and recently concluded its third season. The fourth season will premiere September 26.

On July 18, Forbes listed the Colombian bombshell as the top earning actress in U.S. television after she brought in an estimated $19 million between May 2011 and May 2012.
