Hilarious actress Sofia Vergara appeared on Late Show with David Letterman Thursday and talked about family, fashion, and, of course, Colombia.
The pair start things off by talking about Vergara’s sudden fame in the U.S. due to her role on television program Modern Family. The critically-acclaimed comedy just recently earned multiple Emmy awards for Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Comedy for stars Ty Burrell and Julie Bowen, as well as Best Direction and Best Writing of a Comedy, according to New York Daily news. In his interview Letterman fumbled over his words with Vergara, calling Modern Family…the family show.
Vergara described the Emmys has being “a good celebration for me, so everyone from Colombia wants to come and join me and spend time with me.” When Letterman asked how many family members the Colombian actress has, she replied “how many I have? I think like more than 400…but the ones that just came to see me in LA, we were like a group of 13.”
Although Vergara didn’t personally win an Emmy for the show, she was very pleased with it’s success at the award ceremony. Jokingly she explained that her family in Colombia couldn’t comprehend why she didn’t win an award, saying “they don’t understand, they start calling me from Colombia and it’s like ‘why you didn’t win?’ they really think it’s a beauty pagent you know that big beauty pageants are in Latin America so they’re like ‘but your dress was the best!’ and ‘the hair, no, you, the hair, by far the hair!”
The interview turned political as Letterman stated “I worry that things might not be as stable in Colombia, as we want them to be, are they?” But Vergara assured him that “yes they are, they are very good…the past 10 years have been fantastic, we’ve had a great president, we have a great president, and everything is doing very well”
The Colombian comedian turned actress seems to be doing fantastic herself, launching and promoting her new fashion line at Kmart stores nationwide, and keeping all her fans and followers laughing- Viva La Vergara.
