A fan of Colombian soccer club Once Caldas died Monday after the bus in which he was traveling was fired upon by someone on a motorcycle just outside of Medellin where the fans’ team had played.
The bus was returning to Once Caldas’ hometown Manizales after their 2–1 defeat by Medellin team Atletico Nacional, when a man on a motorbike drew a revolver and opened fire at the bus. The attack occurred in Itagui, a town bordering Medellin to the south.
A fellow passenger said everyone was terrified as shots were fired, and the bus broke into panic as it emerged that one of their number had been injured.
The victim 22-year old Juan David Atehortua, arrived dead at the hospital with a bullet wound to the chest.
Four others were injured, one with a gunshot wound, but the patients are said to be in a stable condition.
The Once Caldas team tweeted that their journey back to Manizales was postponed for safety on recommendation of the authorities.

This is not the first time violence has surrounded Nacional fixtures in recent times, 21 were injured and 150 arrested in March, during a battle between Nacional fans and supporters of Deportes Quindio, which spilled on to the pitch almost causing the match to be suspended.
