Colombian soccer chiefs have jetted out to New York for talks with players over who should be the next team coach.
The three man team from the Colombian Soccer Federation, Luis Bedoya, Ramon Jesurun and Alvaro Gonzalez, will seek the players’ opinions over whether current interim head coach Leonel Alvarez should continue in the role or whether they should appoint Uruguayan coach Julio Comesaña.
Recent media communications from the players suggest they favor Alvarez for the continuity the former assistant to ex-coach Hernan Dario Gomez would provide.
However, according to Terra, the Federation directors prefer the more experienced Comesaña, currently coaching Colombian team Pereira, and would like Alvarez to continue as his assistant.
The team is currently in the United States for a friendly tour and will play Honduras on September 3 in Harrison, New Jersey and Jamaica on September 6 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
