Shakira tweets first picture of new baby

by Rob Edmond February 4, 2013

The whole world on Monday got its first look at Milan Pique, the newborn son of Colombian pop star, Shakira and her professional soccer player boyfriend, Gerard Pique.

Shakira shared the picture, taken January 22, via Twitter on the UNICEF official profile.

This picture trumps the last update the new parents posted when the star couple simply said that they were happy upon Milan’s arrival. The Colombian singing sensation also clarified the correct pronunciation of her first child’s name.

“The emphasis should be on the first syllable,” she said. Shakira also explained that the name “means dear, gracious, loving, in Slavic, [and] in ancient Roman, [it means] enthusiastic and laborious.”

The world eagerly awaited the arrival of young Milan. It appears, however, that some were gripped in anticipation more than others as evidenced by the northen Colombian couple who waited three months to give their child a name. When they heard what Shakira and Pique came up with, they gave their son the same name.
