Shakira gets 7 nods from Billboard Latin Music Awards

by Tara Morris February 5, 2013

Shakira

Shakira received seven nominations Tuesday for the 2013 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Shortly after giving birth to son Milan, Colombian singer Shakira received more good news. Billboard and Telemundo announced on Tuesday that Shakira has received Billboard Latin Music Award nominations in seven categories.

Shakira’s Billboard nominations:

  • Social Artist of the Year
  • Streaming Artist of the Year
  • Songs Artist of the Year, Female
  • Albums Artist of the Year, Female
  • Latin Pop Song of the Year
  • Latin Pop Songs Artist of the Year, Female
  • Latin Pop Albums Artist of the Year, Solo

Although looked over for Artist of the Year, Shakira still has a chance at taking home some pretty notable awards. She faces stiff competition however, as the late Mexican pop-star, Jenni Rivera and veteran Latin Pop superstar Jennifer Lopez are also contending for Female Songs Artist of the Year.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards take into account sales, radio play, streaming and social data for the year to compile a list of awards honoring the most popular albums, songs and performers in the business.

The awards will be presented from Miami, Florida April 23 – 25, 2013.
