Colombian singer Shakira arrived in her hometown of Barranquilla Wednesday night to prepare for her appearance at the Summit of the Americas in Cartagena, reported local media Thursday.
The artist will inaugurate her “First Things First” program in Cartagena Thursday, which will benefit more than five thousand students by building thirteen new education centers throughout the country.
The pop star is scheduled to sing the National Anthem during the opening ceremony of the event, to be held April 14-15.
The Summit will be attended by the heads of state of all countries in the Americas except for Cuba and Ecuador.
