Shakira and Juanes will compete against each other for five “Premios Nuestra Tierra” music awards in Colombia.
Hunky rocker Juanes will compete against pop-diva Shakira in the categories of Best Album, Best Pop Artist or Group, Best Music Video, Best Artists as voted by the public and Best “Tweeter” (on the website Twitter).
Shakira received nine nominations in total for the 2011 awards in Colombia including for Best Song for her World Cup anthem, “Waka Waka.”
The awards have been honouring the creativity and drive of Colombian artists since 2007. This year 28 awards will be handed out to artists in 12 different categories.
The ceremony will be held in the Jorge Eliecer Gaitan Theatre in Bogota on May 19.
