Colombia news - Joe Arroyo

Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos sent hospitalized salsa master Joe Arroyo a support message via Twitter on Wednesday.

In the message, Santos expressed solidarity with the family and fans of the performer, considered Colombia’s greatest salsa musician, who has remained in the intensive care unit of a Barranquilla hospital since June 27.

“The admirers of Joe Arroyo are praying for his quick recovery,” wrote the president on his official account.

Popular Colombian singer Shakira also used Twitter as her social medium of choice to send her support to Arroyo on Wednesday.

The medical prognosis for the salsa artist, hospitalized with severe pulmonary and kidney conditions, continued to remain uncertain, though doctors said that the most critical 48 hours have passed, and they now hope to stabilize Arroyo’s condition.
