by Hannah Aronowitz February 4, 2011

Colombia news - Santa Marta

Curacao will be the guest country of honor and Santa Marta, Colombia will be the featured national destination at the 30th annual Tourism Showcase in Bogota, RCN Radio reported Friday.

The tourism fair put on by the Colombian Association of Travel Agents and Tourism will have exhibitions from 28 countries and all regions of Colombia as well as act as an open platform for travel agents, airlines, language schools, cruises and car rental companies, among others.

Curacoa, an island nation off the coast of Venezuela, will be the featured tourist destination abroad. The Caribbean island, part of the former Dutch Antilles, offers pristine beaches, Dutch architecture and Caribbean flavor.

Santa Marta, Colombia’s second largest beach destination after Cartagena, will enjoy the spotlight at the Tourism Showcase 2011. Colombia’s oldest city has seen a recent surge in tourism as cruise ships have made the charming city a stop on their tour.

The Tourism Showcase will take place February 23-25 at Corferias, Bogota’s International Business and Exposition Center.
