Rodriguez plays down link with Manchester United

by Simon Willis October 15, 2012

Colombia soccer starlet James Rodriguez has played down recent rumors linking him with a move to Manchester United saying that he is happy with current club Porto, report Futbolred.

The 21-year old has been in fine form for club and country scoring four goals in eight games so far this season for Porto – the highlight being a fine UEFA Champions League winner against Paris St Germain earlier in October.

His scintillating form has not gone unnoticed in European media and his name has been continually linked with a move to the English Premier League and in particular Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United.

While Rodriguez admits that the reputation of the Red Devils is huge, he also revealed that he was more than happy playing his football with the Portuguese giants.

“We all know that England and Manchester United is a great club and that England is a great league, but now I am thinking about Porto, now we are in good form, also personally I’m feeling good now, I’m focused playing at Porto.” Rodriguez told Futbolred.

Rodriguez played in the recent 2-0 World Cup qualifying victory over Paraguay on Friday but he remains adamant that there is still a lot of work to do if Los Cafeteros are to make their first World Cup in 16 years.

“You have to be very calm and very sparingly, it is still a long campaign. I am aware that the team is providing excellent football, but there is still the second round and hope that people continue to support us.” He added

“Personally I have faith in qualification. I think with the football that we are showing, the entire country is also having faith like me.”
