In an joint operation, Peruvian and Colombian police forces captured on Wednesday the ringleader of the Colombian neo-paramilitary group “Los Urabeños” in Lima.
Jacinto Nicolas Fuentes, alias “Don Leo,” entered Peru illegally in January, reported newspaper El Espectador.
“Los Urabeños” are a neo-paramilitary and drug trafficking group based in northwestern Colombia.
Fuentes has been indicated as the link between “Los Urabeños” and the FARC‘s 33rd front.
President Juan Manuel Santos wrote in its Twitter account: “Congratulations @PoliciaColombia for the arrest in Lima, with help of Peruvian authorities, of ‘Don Leo,’ chief of The Urabeños in bajo Cauca.”
