Real Madrid would develop Falcao: Freddy Rincon

by Simon Willis October 19, 2012

Colombia’s former soccer star Freddy Rincon believes that Radamel Falcao should follow in his footsteps and join Real Madrid next summer.

Rincon played 14 times for the Spanish giants in the mid-90s and the now retired midfielder thinks that Real would be the perfect place for Falcao to develop his football skills.

Speculation has been rife over the future of the 26-year old after his current club Atletico Madrid revealed that they could sell their superstar to solve some of their debt problems.

English Premier League giants Manchester City and Chelsea are thought to be among the favorites to land the striker after this season ends.

Earlier in the week, however, Real were reported to have stepped up their chase by inquiring into buying the front man, and Rincon is backing a move to Atletico’s fierce city rivals in the summer.

“Real Madrid is going to provide every opportunity and tranquility that he needs to develop his football in a big way,” said Rincon in an interview on FutbolRed website.

Rincon, who played 84 times for Colombia, also warned that Los Cafeteros supporters should not heap too much expectation on Falcao if he is to fulfill his undoubted potential.

“I think we have to be reasonable, because the Colombian football has had great players like Willington Ortiz, the ‘Kid’ Valderrama, Delio ‘Maravilla’ Gamboa. Falcao is starting his career and can become the best soccer player in Colombia. But fans cannot let emotions betray logic,” added Rincon.
