The prosecutor general of Colombia steps down from bringing legal proceedings against the comptroller general and inspector general, Colombian media reported Wednesday.

Prosecutor General Viviane Morales said she was unable to carry out the legal processes, so the Supreme Court of Justice decided that vice Prosecutor General Juan Carlos Forero should take over the investigations into Comptroller General Sandra Morelli and Inspector General Alejandro Ordoñez

The investigation into Sandra Morelli comes following reports that at the time of assuming her role, she did not meet all the necessary requirements for the job.

Alejandro Ordoñez is being investigated for his handling of the dismissal of former senator and peace activist Piedad Cordoba.

Cordoba was dismissed from her post and banned from holding office for 18 years in 2010 for alleged links to the FARC. She has filed a lawsuit against Ordoñez and has demanded $44,400 in damages.
