The Colombian National Police have killed seven and captured another three alleged members of the drug trafficking organization “Los Rastrojos” who are suspected of kidnapping 13 people in southwest Colombia in mid-September, Defense Minister Juan Carlos Pinzon announced Friday.
The kidnappers, dressed in camouflage outfit, held a group of 15 in the municipality of Cumbitara, Nariño on September 11 and killed two before kidnapping the remaining 13. They later killed one of the 13 and released nine. The whereabouts of the three remaining victims are unknown.
The National Police carried out the raid on the suspected Rastrojos base in Nariño as part of “Operation Hunter.”
According to the minister, police seized dozens of grenades and assault rifles, including M-16s, Galils, AK-47s, and an M-60 machine gun. They also found communication equipment.
