Colombian police captured seven alleged FARC rebels Monday in the southwestern department of Huila.
The seven arrested were supposed members of the FARC’s Teofilo Forero Column operating in the town of Gigante.
This particular column is known for running extortion campaigns from merchants and businessmen, from whom they demand $2,600 to $5,200 for each shakedown, according to RCN Radio.
The captures were made possible due to the guerrillas’ affinities towards cockfighting, and authorities were able to track their movements from events held in Gigante and other locations.
Six of those captured all belonged to the same family, according to the radio station.
