by Hannah Aronowitz March 16, 2011

Colombia news - FARC capture

Fourteen suspected FARC militants were captured by Colombia’s security forces in the city of Cucuta, in the northern Norte de Santander department, W Radio reported Wednesday.

The men, who were captured by members of Colombia’s Technical Investigations Team and the judicial police, are believed to belong to a network of militias that support the FARC’s 10th Front which is known to operate in the Arauca and Norte de Santander departments.

Their arrest warrants were issued by a prosecutor from the National Anti-Terrorist Unit, which will be the judicial body in charge of their cases.

Twelve suspected FARC guerrillas were captured by the National Army and six more were killed in the central Meta department Tuesday.
