Pique quashes rumors that he and Shakira are about to marry

by Marc Hall February 20, 2012

Colombia news - Shakira and Pique

To the disappointment of Colombian gossip columnists, Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has announced that, despite circulating rumors, he and Colombian national treasure Shakira are not to be wed any time soon.

Shakira’s lovesick beau also denied speculation that his relationship with the singer is affecting his on-field performances, having been dropped for last week’s Champions League encounter with Bayer Leverkusen.

“Last year we won the league and the Champions League and Shakira was already there. Say no more.” He declared defiantly.

Speaking at the unveiling of his new Mango menswear collection, Pique did in the end offer an olive branch to celebrity-stalking hacks, stating that “the next step is to get married.”

We’re all waiting with bated breath…
