Canadian energy firm Pacific Rubiales broke the record in March for the most amount traded in one month on the Colombian stock exchange, the BVC.
The record set by the company amounted to $1.43 billion dollars traded in March, the most seen by the BVC since its inception nearly a decade ago, reported La Republica.
Pacific Rubiales’ nearest competitors for March were state-owned oil company Ecopetrol who recorded trading figures of $315.35 million and Bancolombia with $202 million.
As a whole, the BVC saw trading in March reach just over $4 billion, a 119.87% increase on the same month for 2010, and leaving the total value of companies trading on the exchange listed at $217.68 billion.
