New Family Welfare director makes no comment on bribery scandals

The new director of Colombia’s Family Welfare Institute ICBF has declined to comment on the state of affairs in the scandal-hit organization, Caracol Radio reported Tuesday.

Diego Molano the new director avoided commenting on the state of affairs in the ICBF after the scandals which caused the departure of the previous director Elvira Forero Hernandez.

The Comptroller’s Office opened an investigation of financial responsibility to look into the loss of $87.5 million.

In August the Inspector General’s Office found irregularities and possible bribery in the awarding of contracts by the ICBF.

Subsequently Forero Hernandez was subject to a full disciplinary investigation by the Inspector General’s Office for her role in the alleged irregularities.
